Five out of five for OMODA C5
Chery's outstanding success in the Euro NCAP safety testing has made no bones about the company's desire to be a worldwide force. The new OMODA C5 passed all destructive crash tests conducted by the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) with the highest active and passive safety ratings. The highest rating given by Euro NCAP, five stars, was given to it.
This is the first time that a car from Chery, China's top exporter of motor vehicles, has undergone a Euro NCAP test. However, the outcomes were consistent with the OMODA C5 and many other Chery vehicles, which scored a perfect five stars for safety in the Chinese NCAP tests.
Regarding construction quality, the tests revealed that the OMODA C5's safety cell can sustain pressures of over 1800 Mega Pascal (Mpa) due to its design and usage of materials like ultra-high tensile strength steel and others. Due to this, the OMODA C5's body shell survived frontal and side crashes that occurred at high speeds.
The vehicle received a score of 87% for the safety of adult occupants and the same score for the protection of minor passengers in the Euro NCAP report from the organization's vehicle-test engineers. Additionally, it scored an 88% for the effectiveness and calibre of its safety-assistance features.
The OMODA C5 is equipped with an airbag between the front occupants in addition to numerous other standard safety measures. As a result, there is less chance of the front passengers colliding and becoming hurt in a side-impact collision.
Additionally, the OMODA C5 boasts a long number of excellent active safety measures. Adaptive cruise control with a built-in radar system is one of 16 different advanced driver assistance systems.
