Fuel friendly festive season with the Suzuki Celerio

This festive season, don’t be fuelish but save up with the Celerio

The second-generation Suzuki Celerio is one of the most fuel-efficient petrol cars around. Our long-termer, the Suzuki Celerio GL 1.0 petrol engine, has been a joy in these tough economic times. This budget-friendly city car is very efficient, whether in the stop-and-go city centre traffic or just cruising on the highway. With so many things to do and places to go during this festive season, we’ve managed a 5.2l/100km fuel consumption with the manual transmission model. That is relatively impressive, considering that we were really not easy on the throttle.

The exterior

The new Celerio is more cheerful with its rounded shape. It also sports a black with chrome accent front grille, body-colored door handles, halogen multi-reflector headlamps, front fog lamps as well as 15-inch alloy wheels.

Under the hood

The Celerio has a front-wheel drive train, 5-speed manual transmission and a 1.0 three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine (50kW / 89Nm).

The interior

The interior has fabric upholstery seats, USB port, Bluetooth, electric windows and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It seats 5 passengers comfortably.

Overall impressions

Despite having a small amount of power, the engine is incredibly likeable in the way it uses that power. The idle start/stop function also performs exceptionally well as it turns off the engine after sufficiently long stops (can be deactivated by a press of a button).

The Celerio is happy to keep up with city traffic and easily reaches highway speeds. The five-speed manual gearbox, which is paired with a light clutch, doesn't need much work from the driver.

Pricing

The starting price of R198 900 (Suzuki Celerio 1.0 GL manual) and the standard 2 year / 30 000 km Service Plan (including a 5 year / 200 000 km Promotional Warranty) makes it worth considering.
