Jeep Avenger named as European Car of the Year 2023

By Joseph Mashele

The first car from the Jeep brand to get a major award is the JeepĀ® Avenger. A jury of 57 judges from 22 nations selected the compact B-SUV as the winner. 328 points were given to the first-ever fully electric Jeep brand car, 87 points more than the next-closest rival. The Jeep brand SUV, which won, was created in Europe with the demands of European customers in mind. The Avenger is the first of four all-electric Jeep vehicles that will be available in Europe by 2025. Orders may now be placed for the whole line-up of the new Jeep Avenger following the success of the limited-edition 1st Edition.

The brand's first battery electric vehicle (BEV), the all-new JeepĀ® Avenger, has been selected European Car of the Year 2023. The first Jeep brand vehicle to receive this esteemed honour in the competition's 60-year history is the little Jeep Avenger B-SUV. Along with the Kia Niro, Nissan Ariya, Peugeot 408, Renault Austral, Subaru Solterra/Toyota bZ4X, and Volkswagen ID Buzz, the Avenger was selected as one of six candidates for further consideration.

An impartial jury comprised of 57 subject-matter experts representing 22 nations, assembled by nine automotive media, selected the winner. The Avenger finished with 328 points, garnering 21 "best" votes, and was 87 points better than the car that came in second. The Avenger received a top three "podium" ranking from the jury members from all but one nation. On Friday, January 13, the outcome was revealed during a ceremony at the Brussels Motorshow in Belgium.

"The Avenger reaffirms the Jeep brand's commitment to the European market and to electrification," stated Antonella Bruno, Head of the Jeep Brand in Europe. It is a big development for the Jeep brand in Europe's electric vehicle market, leading a line of strong, entirely electric cars that are scaled appropriately for the continent. The Jeep Avenger's launch in Europe ushers in the BEV wave, the next stage of the Jeep brand's electrification, which will see the release of four all-electric vehicles by 2025. Sales of the Jeep brand in Europe will be entirely electric by the end of 2030.

The new Avenger is a four-meter-long small SUV that competes in the B-SUV sector, which is the second-largest volume segment in Europe. It boasts dramatic performance levels because of its rapid torque and is quick, strong, quiet, and enjoyable to drive. The new SUV is designed for people who are active and want a car with small dimensions and cutting-edge technology capabilities.

With a city driving range of more than 550 km and an electric fuel range of up to 400 km in the WLTP cycle. A novel 400-volt electric motor with a maximum torque of 260 Nm and 115 kW is combined with a brand-new 54 kWh battery to create a new electric powertrain. Orders may now be placed for the whole Jeep Avenger line-up, building on the popularity of the limited-edition 1st Edition, a launch model with all the bells and whistles that sold 8,000 units after its October 2016 premiere at the Paris Motor Show. Early this year, in the second quarter, are anticipated to be the first deliveries.

The all-new Jeep Avenger is offered at a reasonable price with the intention of easing the switch to electric drivetrains. The new Jeep Avenger BEV will start at a price under 30,000 euros in nations where government incentives are in place.
