Jetour Electrified: T1 and T2 i-DM Plug-In Hybrids Land in South Africa

By Jack Dickson

Rugged looks meet electric efficiency. With a starting price of R689k and a 100 km pure-electric range, these boxy plug-in hybrids are ready to dominate the daily commute and the weekend trail. We break down the "Travel+" tech, the dual-motor performance, and the R15,000 charging bonus that comes standard.

Jetour is officially plugging into the South African market with the highly anticipated launch of it’s T-Series i-DM range. Comprising the adventure-ready T1 i-DM and its larger, more powerful sibling, the T2 i-DM, these new models represent the brand's first foray into the local New Energy Vehicle (NEV) space. Building on the massive success of the petrol-powered T-Series—which saw sales exceed 4,500 units in just six months—the i-DM (intelligent Dual Mode) derivatives are designed to blend hardcore off-road aesthetics with cutting-edge hybrid efficiency.

Exterior: Boxy Brilliance with a Hybrid Signature

The T-Series i-DM range retains the bold, "square-box" silhouette that has made the T1 and T2 instant hits on South African roads. To signal their electrified status, these plug-in hybrids introduce several exclusive styling cues that emphasize their position as range flagships. The T1 i-DM features a distinctive horizontal light strip across the front grille and sits on exclusive 19-inch alloy wheels. Moving up, the T2 i-DM makes an even stronger statement with 20-inch rims and a striking illuminated Jetour logo. Both models come standard with panoramic glass sunroofs and signature LED lighting, ensuring the rugged "Travel+" design philosophy remains as visually arresting as ever.

Interior: A High-Tech Digital Command Centre

Inside, the T-Series i-DM offers a premium, tech-focused environment tailored for the modern traveler. The cabin is centered around a massive 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system paired with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Standard luxury features are extensive across the range, including high-quality artificial leather upholstery and a 540-degree panoramic camera system for effortless maneuvering. Audio enthusiasts are well-catered for, with the T1 featuring a 9-speaker Sony system, while the T2 upgrades to a 12-speaker surround-sound setup. Connectivity is handled seamlessly via wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, complemented by a 50W wireless fast-charging pad to keep devices topped up on the trail.

Performance: The 265 kW i-DM Powerhouse

The mechanical heart of the range is a sophisticated hybrid powertrain that pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with high-output electric motors and an 18.4 kWh battery. The T1 i-DM produces a combined 250 kW and 530 Nm of torque, while the flagship T2 i-DM pushes those figures to a staggering 265 kW and 610 Nm. Both models offer a total combined driving range of more than 1,200 km, with the T1 providing up to 100 km of pure electric driving for silent city commutes. Efficiency is the headline act here, with a claimed fuel consumption of just 1.1 L/100 km when the battery is fully utilized. Furthermore, fast DC charging support allows the battery to go from 30% to 80% in under 30 minutes.

South African Pricing and Peace of Mind

Jetour has positioned the i-DM range at the summit of the T-Series lineup, offering a formidable combination of power and economy. The T1 i-DM is priced from R689,900, while the flagship T2 i-DM starts at R779,900. To support early adopters, Jetour is including a complimentary AC wallbox charger (valued at R15,000) with every purchase. The ownership package is rounded off by a 7-year/200,000 km vehicle warranty, a 7-year/75,000 km service plan, and an 8-year/160,000 km battery warranty, ensuring that this new chapter of electrified adventure is backed by long-term security.
