Launch Drive | The Ford Ecosport Active

Ford recently introduced us to their Limited Edition EcoSport Active (only 1000 units will be made available) which will sit between the Trend model as well as the range-topping Titanium model.

Officially launched back in 2013, the EcoSport has had a fair share of the compact SUV segment has sold over 75 000 units since then. The #EcoSportActive sees some unique styling which makes it look sportier and more rugged with an interior to match. Black wheel cladding, a black grilled as well as the surround on the headlamps and fog lamps. The unique 17” gloss black wheels give it a great look while the black mirror caps is also a great addition. There are also Active badges while the black roof from the Ecosport black makes an appearance on this model too.

Inside, you will find partial leather seats with Active insignia while Sync with smartphone mirroring makes an appearance. On the safety side, it keeps all the safety features that are available on the trend and titanium models, making it one of the safest compact SUVs on the market.

The EcoSportActive is powered by a 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine that delivers 92kw/170 nm of torque via a 6-speed automatic transmission. It’s also worth noting that it is quite frugal as we found ourselves doing 6.5l/100kms during our launch period.

The EcoSport Active 1.0 EcoBoost Automatic is priced at R393 700. Included as standard is Ford Protect comprising a four-year/120 000km warranty, four-year/unlimited distance Roadside Assistance and five-year/unlimited distance corrosion warranty. The recommended service interval is 15 000km or annually, whichever occurs first.
