Launch Review | BMW X2

By Blessing Mtshakazi
BMW has launched the 2nd-Gen BMW X2 and we got to attend and become acquainted with the freshly designed and controversial-looking X2. BMW has made a vehicle that looks very interesting and effortlessly blends performance, aesthetics, and cutting-edge technology

Exterior:
BMW’s signature trifecta – an impressive engine, impeccable driving dynamics, and distinctive design – is once again on full display with the all-new X2. It’s no secret that BMW vehicles often provoke debate with their bold aesthetics, and the X2 is no different. With its provocative rear end and commanding presence, it's a design that demands attention and sets tongues wagging. Size-wise, the new X2 surpasses its predecessor in every dimension, boasting a more imposing presence on the road. The BMW X2 looks very sporty due to the M-Sport package which comes standard. The striking daytime running lights are very eye-catching as well as the bulges on the body giving it a very aggressive stance. The M35i comes with the M-Specific front splitter and can be optioned with an illuminated kidney grille.
The rear end is the biggest talking point with varying opinions about its shape. I think it looks a lot better in person but looks are subjective. You get a rear spoiler, quad tailpipes, a diffuser, and enhanced taillights

Power and Performance:
The BMW X2 lineup offers two compelling models: the sDrive18i and the M35i. While both cater to different sensibilities, the M35i stands out for its sheer power and exhilarating performance. With a robust 233 kW (312 HP) engine and 400 Nm of torque, the M35i delivers a driving experience that's nothing short of exhilarating. However, it's worth noting that the firm suspension may not be ideal for rough terrain, but once on the open road, the BMW X2 M35i truly comes into its own.
In terms of sound, BMW has taken the interesting approach of enhancing the cabin experience with simulated engine sounds. While purists may yearn for the traditional exhaust note, the engineered symphony adds a layer of excitement to the driving experience.

On the other hand, the sDrive18i offers a more snesible option suited for daily commutes and urban adventures. With a respectable 115 kW (154 HP) and 230 Nm of torque, the sDrive18i strikes a balance between performance and practicality. Its softer suspension ensures a smoother ride, while improved fuel efficiency makes it an economical choice for city dwellers.

Interior:
Step inside, and you're greeted by a cabin that seamlessly blends luxury with functionality. From the expansive BMW curve display to the premium materials and ergonomic seating, every aspect of the interior reflects BMW's commitment to craftsmanship and comfort. Furthermore, the inclusion of advanced safety features and cutting-edge technology ensures a driving experience that's both secure and enjoyable.

Verdict:
In conclusion, the new BMW X2 is a testament to BMW's dedication to innovation and excellence. It's a vehicle that not only pushes the boundaries of design and performance but also enhances the spirit of BMW's stand out from the crowd aura. That is exactly who this car is for someone that wants to be completely different and stand out from the crowd. Whether you're drawn to its striking aesthetics or enticed by its dynamic performance, the X2 is a very exciting thought
