Legendary OPEL Corsa Lite makes a come-back

The German city vehicle of the future combines everyday driving enjoyment with large car technology. It's one of the reasons why, when it was introduced in 1982, the OPEL Corsa revolutionized the compact vehicle market, and why, now in its sixth generation, it's more popular than ever. The current OPEL Corsa is one of Germany's most popular compact vehicles and has been the best-selling car in the United Kingdom. It has a devoted fanbase in South Africa, especially after the revival of the iconic Lite brand.

The OPEL Corsa Lite was introduced in November 1996 as a South African-only vehicle, with the second-generation Corsa built locally in three-door form. The zippy hatchback instantly captivated the country's interest and support, powered by OPEL's 1.3-litre eight-valve engine, and the manufacture of the Corsa Lite lasted until 2007 alongside the third-generation Corsa hatch.

The Lite brand is now returning to the sixth generation of Opel Corsa. The new entry-level model may be called Lite, but it is everything from light in terms of specifications, including the usage of OPEL's turbocharged 1.2-litre engine across the range. It makes the new hatchback more lively than ever owing to 74kW, an engine shared with the middle-weight Edition model and a significant improvement over the previously utilized normally aspirated 55kW engine in the entry-level Corsa. The top-of-the-line Elegance variant continues to employ the 96kW version of this incredible engine.

The performance of the OPEL Corsa Lite continues to benefit from some of the greatest aerodynamics in its class. That's not just for show: the remarkable drag coefficient of 0.29 offers higher performance and fuel economy. OPEL's six-speed manual transmission is now standard, as are 16-inch alloy wheels.

The Lite does not skimp on comfort or safety. The new OPEL Corsa comes standard with front electric windows, air conditioning, Eco LED headlights, and safety features including tyre pressure monitoring and Active Lane Keep Assist. Drivers will like the seven-inch touchscreen radio and the IntelliLink Infotainment system's cutting-edge connection.

Edition versions continue to wow with extras like LED front fog lights and front and rear parking sensors.

Elegance versions are loaded with technology, including far too many big vehicle amenities to list for the little hatchback.

OPEL Complete Care offers even more assurance behind the wheel of your new OPEL Corsa, with a nationwide dealer footprint, a standard five-year / 120 000 km Warranty, and a three-year / 45 000 km Service plan. Take a peek at the OPEL Corsa if you don't believe me!
