The 2025 Volkswagen Tayron: The Tiguan Allspace Replacement Arrives
Exterior: A Familiar, Modern Look

The Tayron's design is a clear departure, showcasing a more striking and modern look. I find the 4.79m length gives it a clean, substantial presence. I was impressed with the standard LED headlights and the illuminated Volkswagen badges, both front and rear, which create a signature light design. The R-Line trim, in particular, stands out with its exclusive styling, individual bumpers, and 19-inch Coventry alloy wheels. For an even bolder look, the optional Black Style package with its high-gloss black trim and 20-inch alloy wheels really caught my eye.
Interior and Comfort: Luxury Redefined

Inside, the Tayron sets a new benchmark for premium quality in its class. The high-quality finishes and materials, like the ArtVelours Eco microfibre and illuminated trims, truly give it a luxurious feel. The R-Line goes a step further with sport comfort seats in Varenna leather and 30-colour ambient lighting. I appreciate the thoughtful technology transfer from the Touareg, which includes the IQ.LIGHT HD matrix headlights and the seats with a pneumatic 10-chamber pressure point massage function. The infotainment system is modern and comes standard with features like adaptive cruise control, wireless App-Connect for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a digital instrument cluster.
Engine and Performance: One Option for a Big Job
The Tayron is offered with a single engine option: a 1.4-liter, 4-cylinder TSI engine that delivers 110 kW and 250 Nm of torque. This is mated to a 7-speed DSG transmission. While I think this is adequate for everyday driving, I can’t help but wonder if it will have the necessary power when fully loaded with passengers and luggage, especially in the 7-seater models. I feel a bit limited by this single option, especially when comparing it to the outgoing Tiguan Allspace which offered a 2.0 TSI engine.
Seating and Pricing: A Family-Friendly Choice

The Tayron is available in three trim levels: Base, Life, and R-Line. The Base model is a 5-seater, while the Life and R-Line versions offer a 7-seater configuration. It's great to see a variety of options for different families. I was also pleased to see the competitive pricing, with the range topping R-Line coming in at R 899 900. The standard warranty and service plan, including a 3-year/120,000 km warranty and a 5-year/90,000 km service plan, provides solid peace of mind.
