We had the chance to test drive the new and much anticipated Volkswagen Golf 8R in its Lapiz blue premium metallic coating, and what a fun week it was!

Exterior:

The Lapiz Blue Premium Metallic paint finish gives the Golf 8R a sleek and sporty look, enhanced by its sleek lines and distinctive front grille. The car sits low to the ground giving it an aerodynamic feel with LED headlights that provide excellent visibility in the darkest conditions.

Under the hood, the Golf 8R is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that produces an impressive 235 kW and 400 Nm of torque. That power is channeled to all four wheels via Volkswagen's 4Motion all-wheel drive system and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds.

But the Golf 8R is more than just straight line speed. Volkswagen has equipped this car with many performance features that make it a true driver's car. An electronic stability control system guarantees excellent handling and grip, while the sport-tuned suspension keeps the car stable during aggressive cornering. The brakes also react and bring the car to a quick and safe stop.

Interior:

Inside, the Golf 8R is luxurious and practical. The seats are comfortable and supportive, and the cabin is quiet even at high speeds. The dashboard features Volkswagen's latest infotainment system, displayed on a large touchscreen display. The system is easy to use and provides access to a wide range of features including navigation, climate control and entertainment options.

Overall, the Volkswagen Golf 8R is an impressive machine which offers both performance and versatility. A stylish and luxurious package that combines the performance of a sports car with the practicality of a family hatchback. The Golf 8R is a head turner with immense street cred' and regardless of the challenges Volkswagen faces with making it available in our market we believe the Volkswagen Golf 8R which is much loved by the South African community will be purchased by numerous South Africans.
