Volkswagen SA Unveils the Refreshed Touareg

Volkswagen South Africa has announced the updated version of its premium SUV, the Volkswagen Touareg, set to hit the market on 1 August 2024. The refreshed Touareg features a host of design updates and advanced technology enhancements aimed at elevating both its aesthetics and functionality.
Powertrain and Performance:
The new Touareg is powered by a robust 3.0 TDI engine delivering 190 kW, coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission and Volkswagen's 4MOTION permanent all-wheel drive system.
Cutting-Edge Lighting Technology:
One of the standout features of the refreshed Touareg is its new IQ. Light HD matrix headlights, which incorporate three LED modules and L-shaped daytime running lights. These headlights offer a glare-free main beam, allowing continuous use outside urban areas by precisely masking oncoming traffic and vehicles ahead. The rear is equally impressive with new IQ. Light LED tail light clusters that include dynamic brake and turn signal functions, along with an illuminated Volkswagen logo.
Interior Enhancements:
The interior of the new Touareg has seen significant upgrades. It now boasts 30-colour ambient lighting with adjustable settings across three zones, including the footwell and drink holders. Standard voice control has been enhanced, and the USB-C ports now offer a charging capacity of 45 watts, providing faster charging for devices. The center console trims have been softened for added comfort, reflecting feedback from customers.
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems:
The Touareg comes equipped with an array of advanced driver assistance systems as standard, with additional optional systems available. Key features include Travel Assist for assisted driving up to maximum speed, Trailer Assist for easier trailer maneuvering, and Night Vision for improved safety during night drives.
Distinctive Design Updates:
The exterior of the Touareg has been redesigned to emphasize its width and presence. The front end now features a revamped upper radiator grille, new headlights, and a front apron. The rear has a continuous horizontal LED strip for the taillights and an illuminated Volkswagen logo in red.
Trim Levels and Equipment:
The updated Touareg is available in two trims: Elegance and R-Line. Both trims come with several new features:
