Volkswagen South Africa has introduced the second-generation 2026 T-Roc.
Positioned between the Taigo and Tiguan, the updated compact SUV grows longer by 122 mm with a 28 mm longer wheelbase, creating a more commanding presence and added interior practical space.
Bolder Exterior Styling
The updated T-Roc presents a sharper, more athletic stance with sculpted surfaces and elongated proportions. At the front, it features a new continuous light strip, an illuminated Volkswagen emblem, and standard LED headlights on the entry model. Around the back, a matching continuous illuminated rear light bar and illuminated logo connect two-part LED combination lamps above a redesigned bumper and tailgate.
The model lineup is split across three distinct personalities:
- Life: Establishes the base look with 16-inch Bilbao alloy wheels, LED headlights, and black roof rails.
- R-Line: Adds aggressive R-Line body styling, IQ.Light LED Matrix headlights, and 18-inch Coventry alloy wheels.
- R-Line Black Style: Upgrades the flagship model with 19-inch York Aero black alloy wheels, black mirror caps, black roof rails, black decorative trim, and rear privacy glass.
Upgraded Digital Interior
Inside, the cabin undergoes a total digital refresh centered on clean lines and modern driver tech. A redesigned dashboard houses the integrated Digital Cockpit alongside a central touchscreen display (10.3-inch on base, 12.9-inch on higher trims) running wireless App-Connect.
A new Drive Experience Dial allows quick adjustment of driving profiles, while the gear selector features a multifunction setup with an integrated OLED display. Ambient lighting comes standard in 10-colour variations for Life and R-Line, expanding to 30 colours on the R-Line Black Style. R-Line models also receive Varenna leather sports seats with electric adjustment and memory functions. Boot space is rated at 475 litres.
Engine and Performance
Powering the local T-Roc range is the 1.4-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine delivering 110 kW and 250 Nm of torque (available between 1,500 and 3,500 rpm). Power is sent to the front wheels via an 8-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission.

Pricing includes VAT, emissions tax, a 3-year / 120,000 km warranty, and a 5-year / 90,000 km EasyDrive Service Plan with 15,000 km service intervals.
