All-new Caddy pricing in South Africa

By Jack Dickson

From February, customers will be able to order the new Caddy from Volkswagen dealerships. A new naming convention will be used for the fifth generation Volkswagen Caddy; Caddy, Caddy Maxi, Caddy Kombi, Caddy Maxi Kombi, Caddy Cargo and Caddy Maxi Cargo. The Caddy was first introduced to the local market in 1992, and over 35 000 units have been sold since then. Since 1979, almost three million units have been developed around the world.

The outside of the Caddy features a fresh, athletic look. New LED headlights and taillights, painted body-colour bumpers, and black roof rails are among the exterior improvements. A panoramic sunroof with a 1.4m² glass surface, a retractable tow bar capable of towing a maximum weight of 1 500kg, and 16-inch Wien alloy wheels are all available as options on the exterior. The new Caddy is available in 12 exterior paint colours, including five new ones for the fifth-generation model. The interior of the Caddy impresses with new high-tech features and extra space. Up to two Euro pallets can now be stored in the Caddy Maxi Cargo.

Some of Volkswagen's most modern driver aid systems are featured in the new Caddy line-up. The new Caddy delivers a pleasant drive on longer journeys thanks to Cruise Control. Park Assist, when combined with the Rear-View Camera, makes parking in tight spots a breeze, while Trailer Manoeuvring gives drivers the confidence to navigate a trailer with ease. The new Volkswagen Caddy range will be offered in two engines: a 1.6i petrol engine with 81kW and 2.0 TDI diesel engine with 81kW.
