Subaru gives their Forester a mid-life update

The larger hexagonal grille is a central stage with less headlight design

The biggest change in exterior design was made on the front of the vehicle. The larger hexagonal grille is a central stage with less headlight design. The result is a more dynamic and stable posture. The grille and front bumper now contain more black elements around the redesigned headlights and fog lamp clusters. The redesigned headlights include a variety of LED bulbs to improve driver visibility as part of Forester's Adaptive Headlights and High Beam Assistant. In the Forester Sport, the fog lights are a 6-bulb LED unit in black housing, while the Premium Forester's fog light housing contains three chrome-plated horizontal sections for a more urban finish. Further development along the sides of the Forester has been the painting of mirror caps, A-pillar and B-pillar covers, rear spoilers and tailgates. In the Forester Sport, the mirror cap and back are made of geometrically structured material, while the Premium Forester has a chrome-plated mirror cover and a glossy black cover.

The Premium model sits on a new 18-inch five-spoke two-tone design that delivers a deliberate yet elegant look

The new Forester has redesigned 17-inch alloy wheels for the base model or the 18-inch alloy wheels for the high-spec models while the Premium model sits on a new 18-inch five-spoke two-tone design that delivers a deliberate yet elegant look. This is in contrast to the more adventurous Forester Sport all-black multi-spoke wheels.

A new Cascade Green Silica colour has been added in place of the Jasper Green Metallic.

Enhanced Safety

Subaru has also given the Forester EyeSight 4.0 and the new system delivers all-round improvement for use under a wider array of conditions and environments. A new dual-camera system with a much wider field of view, almost doubles what it was. Together with improved software, the system is faster and more intuitive, working to deploy the myriad EyeSight safety functions such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Pre-Collision Braking, Lane Departure and Sway Warning with even better precision. The system now works with better efficiency at intersections, where accidents frequently occur.

EyeSight 4.0 also offers three new technologies that use active steering.

  • Active Lane Centering, Lane Departure Prevention, Autonomous Emergency Steering.

Engines

The 2022 Subaru Forester will be offered in four derivatives including the 2.0-litre and 2.5-litre variants in their respective Sport and Premium trims and specifications.

The drivetrain has remained unchanged from all derivatives of the new Forester, but the front suspension has been redesigned with coil springs and dampers redesigned to improve steering response, ride comfort and handling. To further improve noise levels, Forester also received new aluminium engine mount brackets.

The entire 2022 Subaru Forester lineup is powered by Subaru's proprietary Boxer engine and Symmetrical AllWheel Drive to deliver safe and attractive dynamics and maximum traction and handling.
