What you can expect from Toyota and Lexus - hang on tight
I attended a media briefing at Toyota and Lexus South Africa where they let us know what to expect this financial year (2021/2022) and some exciting products heading our away. Before I get there, do you remember the Toyota FJ Cruiser? Did you know that it sold 36 units in April and continues to sell? Anyway, Here is what you can expect from Toyota and Lexus:
1. The Toyota GR Yaris, the internet sensation which has riled up many social media enthusiasts will be making its way to South Africa in June, while it has been spotted in South Africa already, Toyota plans to officially launch this head-turning phenomenon in June.
2. A locally manufactured Toyota Corolla Cross will also be launched towards the end of the year and will see the Corolla family become bigger - I am personally looking forward to the Corolla Cross and seeing how the market will be receptive to it, it’s also a great thing it will be manufactured in South Africa especially after the tough financial year everyone has had.
3. The LC500 convertible - another one that is very close to my heart, the Lexus LC500 convertible will be making its way to Mzansi.
Lexus has also confirmed that there will be an NX making its way early next year, a facelifted ES as well as UX models making their way into our beloved Mzansi.
Hybrids also making their way into Mzansi
We will also be having some hybrid models making their way into South Africa later this year confirmed Toyota.
1. The Toyota RAV4 Hybrid
2. The Toyota Corolla Hybrid
It will be an exciting time for Toyota and Lexus South Africa, and I am looking forward to all the models coming.
