All-new Nissan X-Trail launch

2023 Nissan X-Trail
All-new Nissan X-Trail now in South Africa.

Nissan recently launched the 4th generation X-Trail in South Africa and we had the pleasure of joining them for the experience. This is the family companion that sits between the Qashqai and the Patrol. You can get it in 3 different trims which are all pre-specced. These are namely the Visia, Acenta, and Acenta Plus.

The Visia has 17-inch alloy wheels, rear parking sensors only, and gets LED headlights. The Acenta sits on 18-inch alloy wheels and gets synthetic leather seats, dual-zone climate control, front and rear parking sensors, and Nissan ProPILOT. The Visia and Acenta both use an 8” touchscreen infotainment system which has a reverse camera as well. Last but not least is the Acenta Plus, their premium X-Trail model. Unlike the previous generation X-Trail, the 4th generation only gets 7 seats in the Acenta Plus model. Along with that are 19-inch alloy wheels, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10” driver’s display, and a 4x4 system with different driving modes.

To get this adventurer moving is Nissan’s 2.5l 4-cylinder petrol engine which is the only powertrain on offer. It is mated to a CVT gearbox and has outputs of 135kW and 244nm of torque. The consumption is claimed at 7.5l/100km, which is quite impressive considering the size of this car. One thing about the X-Trail, it drives as well as it looks. It has a quiet, well-insulated cabin, and the build quality is outstanding. It feels like a car that will last a lifetime.

The new X-Trail is 15 mm taller, 20 mm wider, and 10 mm shorter in length, while the wheelbase is unchanged from the previous generation. It has bolder, more robust looks, with body cladding all around to give it that adventurous look. An amazing feature is the capability of the rear doors to open up to 85º. This is to allow parents enough space to fit baby seats in the car without the hassle.
