We had an opportunity of driving the budget-friendly Suzuki S-Presso for the week, and this is what we thought.
What Suzuki calls their mini-SUV, It’s a high ground clearance budget car, which ticks the right boxes for the price in the year 2021. It has ABS, EBD, dual front airbags, a 180mm ground clearance so you can tackle any road you deem fit and an impressive fuel economy, which is even better than their claimed 4.9l/100km.
It is powered by a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated engine with an output of 50kw/90nm and power is sent to the front axle through either a 5-speed manual or Suzuki’s 5-speed AMT gearbox. The car has a smooth drive and we found ourselves constantly surprised at how capable it is when tackling steep roads.
It comes standard with a 7” LCD Touchscreen which features Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and BlueTooth to help you keep your eyes on the road. You don’t get PDC but a reverse camera has been fitted for your convenience. Available in the GL+ or S-Edition only, it is truly a budget car to be reckoned with.
